Role Overview

Preparation and completion of the consolidated monthly management accounts, providing budget holders with their departmental analysis on a monthly basis.

Responsibility for cash and treasury management.

Responsible for the Finance Assistant

Provide support to the Commercial Financial Controller, the wider Finance Team, and Executive Team.

Role Responsibilities

Period end process

  • Prepare monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Balance sheet reconciliations including bank accounts, purchase and sales ledger
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and variance reporting on the cost of sales nominal codes.
  • Prepare and post period end journals
  • Month end close off procedures
  • Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts and present to Financial Controller
  • Prepare overhead analysis by department, for budget holders to review variances to budget

Cash & Treasury management

  • Maintain borrowing facility
  • Manage petty cash
  • Control of HSBC credit cards
  • Electronic bank transfers including weekly payment run
  • Post bank transfers on Sage
  • Cashflow management and forecasting

Other tasks

  • Preparation of year end accounts with external advisors
  • Be the main point of contact with the external auditors, ensuring they have timely access to the data they need, including payroll reconciliations
  • Co-ordination of annual budget (overheads)
  • Responsible for submission of VAT returns
  • Responsible for Concur – the company’s expense system, ensuring claims are correctly submitted, paid and posted onto Sage.
  • Responsible for overseeing PL function
  • Responsible for 1 direct report (Finance Assistant)
  • Responsible for ONS survey submissions
  • Prioritise own workload to reflect business needs.
  • Support the Financial Controller and Projects Team with other projects, ad hoc tasks and administration.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the business and its processes in order to be able to engage and support the wider business
  • Any other duties as required by the company

  • Ability to manage, motivate and develop direct report

Personal specification

This role would suit a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), with good analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, someone who is able to work to their own routine, plus communicate well across all departments as well as external contacts.
